Who We Are
In 1967, a group of friends gathered in Terlingua, Texas, to settle a fiery debate: who could cook the best chili? That spirited showdown sparked what would become the International Chili Society (ICS) and the original World Championship Chili Cook-Off®.
More than 50 years later, the tradition continues. The ICS brings together chili lovers, competitors, and communities from across the globe to celebrate America’s most iconic comfort food. From backyard cooks to seasoned champions, everyone is welcome to stir the pot.
In 2020, the ICS proudly became part of the World Food Championships (WFC) family, expanding our reach within the Food Sport world while staying true to our roots of fun, flavor, and fierce competition.
