The World Championship Chili Cook-off (WCCC) announced today that it has secured the services of the Grand Strand’s leading expert on all things events and festivals. Amie Lee, president of Palmetto Event Productions, Inc., will join the operations team of MMA Creative, producer of WCCC, as its In-Market Event Coordinator.
Prior to creating Palmetto Event Productions in 2012, Amie served as the Director of Festivals and Special Events with Visit Myrtle Beach/Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. Her company produces outdoor music and food festivals, parades, political and corporate events and everything else in between.
“Amie is an impressive and successful event promoter in the Myrtle Beach area,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of MMA Creative. “We are thrilled that she was willing to join our team and help make our inaugural year a big hit on the Grand Strand.”
While WCCC is new to Myrtle Beach, the event has a 54-year history and was founded by Carrol Shelby, a racing legend and American automotive icon. WCCC is the culmination of a year-long series of chili cook-offs that occur all over the country. Every cook team who makes it to WCCC has won a qualifying event at some point throughout the year.
Past WCCCs have drawn crowds of 20,000+ attendees, or ‘chiliheads’ as the chili teams call themselves. Not only do event attendees get to experience the passion and color that these very animated chili cooks bring to the event, but they also get to taste their chili and be part of the judging process in a People’s Choice style competition.
In addition to chili tasting, Myrtle Beach residents and visitors can come out and hear live entertainment on the main stage, grab a beer from the Beer Garden and visit with local as well as national vendors and brands.
“This is a great event for Myrtle Beach and I’m excited to be a part of it. There are opportunities available for local businesses to get involved. After the year we’ve had, I know we’re all ready for events like this to start happening again,” said Amie Lee.
