The World Championship Chili Cook-off (WCCC), which is making its debut in Myrtle Beach this fall, just announced some spicy news for chili lovers who plan to attend: as part of its introduction to the Grand Strand, general admission into the event will be FREE.
More than 200 teams from around the nation will compete in the event, which is sponsored by BUSH’S® Beans and features four key categories of chili: Traditional Red, Verde, Homestyle and Veggie. While teams fire up their stoves to win the event’s $100,000 prize purse, attendees will get to see the wacky, enthusiastic and colorful side of chili competitors, affectionately referred to as “chiliheads.”
But that’s not all. For those who love to eat chili — and discover the different varieties that exist — there will be numerous unique experiences, such as a Certified Chili Judge class, where you will learn how to judge professional chili; chili tastings; cooking demonstrations; and a special VIP experience, where you will get to taste chili like you’ve never tasted it before.
“This event has something for everyone,” said Mike McCloud, President and Commissioner of the International Chili Society. “From sampling experiences to charity challenges to live entertainment from season 17 winner of “The Voice,” Jake Hoot, this is one beach party that will definitely be spicing things up for foodies of all ages.”
Scheduled for Sept 17-19, WCCC’s main stage will be hopping all weekend, with a full schedule of live entertainment. Professional cooks will be sharing cooking tips and techniques every day, while fun contests like the Hot Pepper Challenge and Miss and Mister Chili Pepper will be delighting fans throughout the weekend. In addition to Hoot, daily musical acts will provide entertainment in the afternoons.
And as a special treat, our presenting sponsor–BUSH’S® Beans– is partnering with us to launch the Early Bean ticket package, similar to Early Bird but with a little extra flavor.
The first 100 attendees to purchase any of WCCC tickets in the month of June will receive a complimentary koozie courtesy of our presenting sponsor! Cool beans, right?
