Better Brands and Anheuser-Busch Bring Beer Gardens To Chili Fest

This September could be twice as hot as usual in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina thanks to the upcoming World Championship Chili Cook-off (WCCC), where more than 500 flavors of chili will be up for taste testing awards. Thankfully, organizers of the event just announced a partnership that will keep everyone’s temperature and taste buds in check, as locally owned Better Brands Inc and Anheuser-Busch have joined the party as the Official Beer of WCCC, bringing a powerhouse assortment of brands like Bud Light & Bud Light Seltzers, Michelob Ultra, Stella Artois, Wicked Weed, and Cupcake Wines, to name a few.

“There’s nothing like a great beer with a great bowl of chili,” said Mike McCloud, President and CEO of the World Championship Chili Cook-off. “That’s why we are thrilled to have the Anheuser-Busch portfolio on board with our championships to deliver an engaging, thirst-quenching beer garden experience at our debut in Myrtle Beach. With three days of nonstop chili action and tasting, it’s nice to know that we’ll have more than 20 options of beer to pair with your favorite style of chili.”

Beer gardens at WCCC will be located in every key food zone, offering options of domestics, imports, craft, seltzers, and wine to wash down with the many salsas and variations of pro/amateur chili flavors. Anyone 21 or older will be able to purchase beer and wine in the garden experiential areas during event hours, which are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on September 17, 18, and 19th.

“We are proud to be a founding partner for the WCCC’s inaugural year and bring an assortment of products to the beer gardens that the attendees will love”, said Jason Hayes, Executive Vice-President at Better Brands. “We look forward to working together to deliver a world class event as well as the opportunity of bringing thousands to experience all the fun Myrtle Beach has to offer.”

The 54th Annual WCCC, presented by BUSH’S® Beans, will offer tourists and residents a full weekend that can satisfy the whole family’s appetite. Aside from all the food, activities like the Family Fun Zone, cornhole tournament and hot sauce/wing eating contest will keep the entire family entertained. All while local and national musical acts fill the beach air with lively vibrations from country and rock artists.

While this marks the debut of the World Championship Chili Cook-off (WCCC) in Myrtle Beach, it’s no stranger to the hundreds of cook teams that compete in chili every weekend. In fact, this will be the 54th annual celebration for the International Chili Society, which was started by racing car legend Carroll Shelby and friends. In honor of Shelby, organizers are also planning a Shelby Cobra car show for the event on Saturday, September 18, as well as an antique car show on Sunday, Sept 19.
